Medical Laboratory Technician

The Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA) is the leading provider of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in Guyana. Committed to delivering high-quality, clientcentered care, GRPA offers a comprehensive range of services, including family planning, abortion care, cancer screening, and STI testing. Our laboratory plays a critical role in supporting these services by ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic testing.

Position Objective :

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) will support laboratory operations by performing a variety of tests and analyses, ensuring quality control, and assisting clients with test results. The MLT will work closely with other laboratory personnel to maintain a high standard of service delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Collect and process patient samples while adhering to proper handling and storage protocols.
Ensure quality control by performing routine equipment calibration and maintenance.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Accurately record and log test results in laboratory records and digital systems.
Prepare and issue laboratory test reports in a timely manner
Follow infection control and biohazard safety protocols at all times.
Participate in GRPA outreach and volunteer activities as required.
Provide support to senior laboratory staff and assist with additional duties as needed.

The Medical Laboratory Technician will be required to work full-time according to the following schedule:

Duty Time

Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (rotational)
